KJ CONNECT PRIVACY POLICY

KJ Connect is operated by KJ Studios Ltd, New Zealand.

We respect the privacy of our dancers, families and users. This Privacy Policy explains what information KJ Connect collects, why we collect it, how it is used, and the choices available to you.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

KJ Connect may collect and store the following information:

Email Address

We collect your email address when you create or access your KJ Connect account.

Your email address is used for:

  • account creation and identification

  • passwordless login and verification codes

  • maintaining access to your KJ Connect account

  • providing relevant app functionality

User and Account Information

KJ Connect assigns an account identifier to each user.

This allows us to securely provide personalised features such as:

  • read and unread updates

  • saved or starred items

  • My Calendar

  • My Show

  • My Things

  • troupe access where applicable

  • other account-specific app preferences and permissions

Device Information for Push Notifications

If you choose to enable push notifications, KJ Connect stores a device registration token associated with your account.

This is used only to deliver KJ Studios notifications to your device.

You can turn push notifications off at any time through your device settings.

App Interaction Information

We may store information about how you interact with KJ Connect where necessary to provide app functionality.

For example:

  • whether an update has been read

  • items you have starred or saved

  • events added to personalised app sections

  • notification preferences

  • troupe or content access associated with your account

We do not use this information for advertising or behavioural tracking.

APPLE CALENDAR ACCESS

KJ Connect may ask for permission to add KJ Studios events to your Apple Calendar.

Calendar access is used only when you choose to add an event to your device calendar.

KJ Connect does not use your personal calendar information for advertising, marketing or tracking purposes.

You can change Calendar permissions at any time through your device settings.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

Information collected through KJ Connect is used to:

  • operate and maintain your account

  • authenticate users

  • provide KJ Studios information and updates

  • personalise relevant app content

  • provide troupe-specific information where access has been granted

  • send push notifications when enabled

  • maintain saved, starred and read/unread information

  • provide and improve the functionality and security of KJ Connect

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising.

We do not use KJ Connect to track users across other companies' apps or websites for advertising purposes.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

KJ Connect uses trusted third-party technology providers to operate the app.

These include:

Supabase

Supabase provides services including:

  • user authentication

  • database storage

  • account information

  • app content

  • user preferences and permissions

Firebase / Google

Firebase Cloud Messaging is used to deliver push notifications to supported devices.

These service providers may process information on our behalf only as required to provide their services.

Their own privacy and security practices also apply to information processed through their platforms.

TROUPE AND PERSONALISED CONTENT

Some KJ Connect users may be given access to private troupe-specific content.

Access is linked to the user's KJ Connect account and is controlled by KJ Studios.

Troupe access may be added, changed or removed by KJ Studios as required.

CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

KJ Connect is designed for the KJ Studios community, including dancers and their families.

We aim to collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate the app and provide KJ Studios services.

KJ Connect does not contain third-party advertising, public social networking or unrestricted user-to-user messaging.

Parents or guardians who have questions about information associated with their child may contact KJ Studios.

DATA RETENTION

We retain account and app information only for as long as it is reasonably required to:

  • provide KJ Connect services

  • maintain your account

  • meet operational or legal requirements

  • maintain the security and integrity of our systems

Information that is no longer required may be deleted or anonymised.

ACCESS, CORRECTION AND DELETION

You may contact KJ Studios if you would like to:

  • request access to personal information we hold about you

  • correct inaccurate information

  • request deletion of your KJ Connect account or associated personal information

  • ask questions about how your information is used

SECURITY

We take reasonable steps to protect information stored through KJ Connect from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or loss.

No internet-based system can guarantee absolute security, but we use reputable service providers and appropriate access controls to help protect KJ Connect information.

YOUR CHOICES

You can:

  • disable push notifications through your device settings

  • change Calendar permissions through your device settings

  • choose whether to star or save app content

  • sign out of your account

  • contact KJ Studios regarding access, correction or deletion of your information

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy as KJ Connect changes or where required by law.

The latest version will always be available on the KJ Studios website.
